BELLANA
Bellana began long before the brand had a name. The idea first took shape when its founder Janice became a mother for the first time. As she dressed her newborn each day, she noticed gaps in the baby clothing market — items that were impractical and, most noticeably, a lack of pieces that held any cultural significance. There was plenty of clothing, but very little that meant something.
Being proudly half Samoan (Polynesian) and half New Zealander (European/Kiwi), she grew up embracing two rich heritages. Yet when she searched for baby and children’s clothing that reflected this unique blend of identity, she discovered almost no options. Cultural designs existed, but they tended to represent just one culture at a time, leaving no space for the many children who come from multiple worlds.
The idea continued to grow, and by the time her second child arrived, it had transformed into a clear purpose. She knew that if she was going to create a brand, it had to be more than clothing — it had to be a bridge. A brand that honoured heritage, family, while inviting every child, from every background, beliefs, and culture, to feel proud, happy, and included.
Bellana was born from that vision — a desire to create beautifully designed baby and kids’ clothing that celebrates diversity and belonging. Every pattern, colour, and detail carries the intention of weaving stories, culture, and connection into each piece, allowing children to wear not just fabric, but identity.
Today, Bellana stands as a brand rooted in inclusiveness, love, and legacy. It reminds us that our children deserve to grow up wrapped in garments that reflect who they are and where they come from — and that their stories are worth celebrating.
Welcome to the Bellana family — where every child belongs!!!
